Introduction
We were approached by one of the leading VR development clients to provide complete environment art content for their excavator training simulator project.
Challenges
Concept.jpg
  • To create an environment from a concept.
  • To match it with the real-life environment.
  • To provide a high-quality scene without compromising the fps rate.
Solutions
We provided our developer client with a high-quality art environment which enhanced the VR experience and thereby having a complete working functionality of the excavator simulator.
What Wrinit did on Simulator Environment?
Blockout.jpg
The whole environment art with assets like a hammer, thumbs, bucket etc was assigned to us for the simulator. After having some basic information, we made some simple concepts drawn. The idea was to create American farmland with farmhouse, maintenance area, some construction area’s, rodeo area.
Concept Drawing, References & Block out Scene

The concept was a base for the environment. After a few suggestions, we made the block out scene by placing mesh as a placeholder in 3ds max and exporting it into unity and placed with a base terrain. Here is how the block in unity looked like.

Asset Creation
Once the block out scene was ready we made all the high-quality assets for the scene. Here are a few assets...

Scene Creation
We created a high quality fully optimized environment scene with high-quality low poly assets in unity. we made all buildings and assets by using software like  3ds Max, Substance painter, Photoshop, Zbrush etc.

The grasses were added as alpha textured terrain grass. Vegetations were placed by using the unity tree painting tool. Adjusted terrain height variation for the more realistic appeal.
Improved the overall scene visual quality and lighting settings by adding post-processing effects in unity.
